Plainsman, The (1936)

Don't you think that many people don't have a great opinion about Cass Elliot as a singer because?
all her tones sounds so easy to sing when listen to her, when they’re actually not.
I have never heard any negative opinions on Cass. She was an AMAZING talent. She wasn’t utilized to her fullest in the Mamas and Papas. If you ever hear her solo, Wow. She was great.

Are the test accurate, should I be concerned??
My sister is almost 5 months pregnant. She hadn’t seen the doctor until about a week ago because they kept rescheduling her appointment. She had all the blood work and things done and she got a call this afternoon that said the baby had a 1 in 67 chance of having downs. We have no history of that in our family and her husband doesn either. She just turned 27 on Tuesday. I was wondering how accurate are the blood test, especially later into the pregnancy. And what are the steps that she should take after getting results like this. I am completely broken hearted for her but I told her if the baby does have downs that it wont matter one tiny bit. Whether it be a baby boy or baby girl they will be loved no different! Any advice would be great. Also any comforting words I can give to her? Anyone been in this situation before??
Honestly, I didn’t even realize you could tell that from a blood test. Usually it is determined by a test they do at the beginning of the pregnancy. Maybe it’s different when you’re further along. Sorry, I have no advice. Just wanted to add that I wasn’t sure you could tell from a blood test.

If the doctors kept rescheduling her appointment and kept her from getting proper pre-natal care until the 5th month of pregnancy, First I would find a new doctor! That is insane!

Wow, sorry to hear that news. Luckily, you understand that the test does not mean the baby IS a down syndrome baby, but that there’s a 1 in 67 chance it could be born with down syndrome. A lot of people do not understand this.
From here, she could have more tests done, like an amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling or ultrasound.
An amnio is where they take a sample of fluid from the amniotic sac and test it. This is an extremely conclusive test. They go in through the abdomen with a long needle and take a fluid sample. This carries a minor miscarriage rate.
Chorionic villus sampling is somewhat alike to an amnio, it can be done through the abdomen or through the cervix. They go in with a needle and take a sample of the placenta and test it. This is also an extremely conclusive test. This as well carries a risk of miscarriage. While a slight risk, it is still a greater risk than an amnio.
The least invasive test is the ultrasound. They measure the nuchal fold at the back of the baby’s neck for the amount of fluid in it. They make a determination from this test wether the baby has down syndrome or not. I’m not entirely positive of the accuracy of this test. That’s not to say that it’s not accurate, that’s just to say I never really read up on it.
The majority of women who test and come back with a likelihood of down syndome end up having perfectly normal babies. The tri-screen, or quad-screen that is done for this often comes back with bad information.
Just be her shoulder to cry on if she needs it, be strong for her and there for her if she needs you. Good luck and I sincerely hope things turn out ok.

Why do officers in corporations get huge bonuses while the company is losing money? Do the clerks get raises?
Why should bank executives get millions when they made bad decisions. Nobody else gets a raise. I’m no fan of Obama, but I have to agree, that doesn’t make any sense. If they have to get bonuses, the amount should depend on profits, not promises so they would have some incentive to do a good job and make the whole company profitable within ethical bounds.
They are beholding to the stock holders who decide whether they get bonuses. Some don’t deserve them, but not all are crooks.
Obama and the left have successfully turned the general public against bankers while simultaneously bailing them out when they make bad decisions.
In fact, if you look at Obama’s administration, most of them are former bankers he’s rewarded. Most are from Goldman Sachs.
I hope we can all see through what Obama is doing. By laying extra taxes on banks he is hurting the little people, while rewarding the rich.

Only the top execs get the big bucks. Its a game they play with what they believe to be big corp talent who will go to the corp who pays the most in salary, bonuses, and perks. HP stock price went down 60% during Carly Fiorna’s stay there and they paid her $21 Million to go away. ExxonMobil did much better, they paid Lee Raymond $400 Million bonus in one lump sum to retire.

well, its part of the culture now that these people have to make tons and tons of money…and that they deserve it because their talents are that valuable.
So its ok for a big corporations CEO to make a salary of $5million dollars base, get $1 million in stock options, and a $3 million dollar bonus even though the corporation made no profits that year.
The people who allow this to happen are the board of directors who …SURPRISE SURPRISE ..are also other members of the elite and CEOs of other corporations…one hand washes another’s back and expects the same favor down the line.

What do I do about a Mooching, and Self Absorbed Grandmother.?
My entire life I have always felt different with my Grandmother. Like I was the step grand child, or I was different than the others. Being one out of ten grandchildren, that can be a pretty crappy feeling, everyone else being praised and talked about sweetly, while you stand there being put down and thought to be a bad kid. So eventually i grew to not enjoy my time with my grandmother, I dreaded going to visit, just because i always heard how wonderful all the other grandchildren were. I’m not totally in love with myself and think every one should always tell me how great I am but the people who love me the most should at least try to make me feel good about myself. Right?
My grandmother recently came to visit for Xmas and I have always been so kind and sweet to her trying to get her to be the same with me. But the only response I get is, "I don’t like your new school picture this year" or "you need to stop eating so much!" Again I say MY ENTIRE LIFE! she has acted this way toward me, even when i was a little girl, i can remember the ignorant remarks she would say, that would make me want to cry.
Finally for the Cherry on top, The day before my grandparents were supposed to leave, I was in my room getting ready for work when i over heard my parents and grandparents talking in the kitchen.
Grandma: Ya know she used to be kinda chunky when she played soccer.
Mom: No I really don’t think so, she was more muscle.
Grandma: Oh No she really was putting on the weight, fast.
Me from my room: Thanks Grandma, but I wasn’t fat!
Grandma: Yeah you were, you were putting on the pounds there for a while.
Me again: No I wasn’t!
Grandma: Oh Yes You Were!
Me again: Uh no. I wasn’t ever fat!

I HAVE NEVER BEEN FAT! i only weigh one hundred thirty pounds and im like five three and a half.
That was not exaggerated, really that’s how she acted. It’s ridiculous, I barley raised my voice, I just was sick of her always treating me like I was the black sheep. So I just disagreed with her and it really really pissed her off. Well after that my mother was furious and my grandparents just up and left because they felt I was being disrespectful. But Before they left my grandmother said something to my dad that really made me think, she said, "I don’t need to take disrespect from a snotty nosed sixteen year old punk!" So I thought to myself, wow the truth finally comes out, that’s what she really thinks of me, and always have thought of me.
Like I said I always just took what she said and dealt with it, but now im sick of it. A few days after they left she tried to call me and apologize but i’m not stupid, the only reason that she did was because she wants my dad to come visit her in june so she wants to try to make everything better. So I didn’t take the call, she left a voice mail and i listened to about half of it and it made me sick to my stomach so i deleted it. My parents are on my side, but now they are telling me that she is my grandmother, and that she is old and i need to accept her apology. My boyfriend says almost the same too. But I really don’t want to because I feel very coldly toward her, she has made me feel very insecure and uncomfortable my whole life, and I know I am better than what she thinks of me. I really feel like she is nothing to me, I really feel that she is not my Grandmother. I truly truly feel that way.
I don’t want to talk to her ever.
I don’t want to see her ever.
She makes me sick.
Today she sent me a package and I didn’t open it. I think when my dad gets home from work he is going to try and make me open it and call her. But I don’t want her gifts, not now, its too late. She has nine other grandchildren, she never needed me before.
There is so much more i could say that she has said to me or done to me to make me feel like crap but its too much to write.
Please give me your input.

the most any person can say to you is this. I tell this to kids whose parents have abandoned them or abused them etc.

My dad hugged me and after I said this" dad I love you and forgive you. " he said "thank you " but never IM sorry" back. THIs is how I dealth with it.
when he asked me to come back I replied" I love you dad, because you are my father, I forgive you but I can’t come back. YOU had all your life to be a part of mine and now that your dying you think I should be there for you, I can"t..
I left feeeling so much better. I cleaned my side of the street and he has to deal with the outcome.
You someday will have that choice. Your Grandmother will probably not understand, but inside you will forget and forgive all her insanity. LOVE your Grandma as she is, just from afar.

It really depends on the interpretation of Robin Hood.
I mean is it a "Men in Tights" thing or a "Prince of Thieves" thing. Comedy or straight I can see:

If you want the song to sound more historically accurate, I would recommend one of John Dowland’s lute songs, with the accompaniment played on a guitar if you can’t get a lute. His songs were from the late Renaissance era. There are some good choral songs from that period too, and madrigals would also be a good choice.
Unfortunately, we only have chant music from the medieval era, which people probably would not have danced to.
You could also just do a folksy song like Scarborough fair. Most people won’t know the difference.

What is the best way to get around Paris with a three year old?
We plan on going to Paris and London this spring. When we travel, we like to do a lot of walking. I know my daughter won’t be able to do as much, but she is too big for a stroller. What are my options? any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why is she too big for a stroller? My daughter is big for three, but she can still fit in her stroller. I can’t think of a better way to move a three-year-old around on long days with a lot of walking. However, hopefully, someone will know one because there will be a lot of places in Paris and London where a stroller will be a hassle – steps, narrow alleys, cobblestones, turnstiles into the metro, etc.
I suppose if you are very fit, you can buy or maybe rent a carrier for your back, but I think a three-year-old would be very big for one of those.
